I thought it would be helpful to share my experience with successfully unlocking an iPhones (iPhone 4 in my case) on ios 5.1 on any baseband. Shout outs have to go out to SAM. You can watch the below clip to show you exactly how i did it.

THATS NOT ALL. THIS MAYBE A FIRST!

I think i may be the first to discover (accidently) that while successfully unlocking my iPhone 4 by SAM that the unlock could be kept after UN-Jailbreaking your device. 

Upon successfully doing this, i decided i no longer wanted my iPhone 4 tethered jailbreaken. So what i believe i have acidentally uncovered is that after jailbreaking my iPhone 4 on ios 5 baseband 4.11.08 and unlocking with SAM that you can restore your iPhone to 5.1 with no jailbreak but still UNLOCKED! This is how it started and the outcome is an unlocked iPhone 4 on ios 5.1 with no Jailbreak. Hooray!
